Skandia Elevator has implemented its first solution with an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) for internal pallet transport in production. In collaboration with Atlid, OMRON and ROEQ, the company is taking a step towards safer and more automated material flows in the factory.
In our production, pallets are transported daily between different workstations. Previously, these transports have largely been handled by forklifts, but to increase both safety and efficiency, the company has now introduced an AMR solution that automates parts of the pallet handling.
The solution consists of an OMRON MD-650 robot equipped with a ROEQ TML Pallet Lift EU top module. Implemented together with the system integrator Atlid, the system is used to transport pallets between different points in the production facility. The robot can handle pallets up to 500 kg and contributes to a smoother and more automated material flow.
For operators, the system is easy to use. When a pallet needs to be moved, the operator selects the destination via a button, after which the robot automatically picks up the pallet, transports it to the correct location and places it there.
“We are very happy to take the first steps on our AMR journey. This makes our production safer and more efficient,” says Jerry Olsson, Head of Production Engineering and Quality at Skandia Elevator.
