News Skandia Elevator receives innovation support to develop traceability in the grain chain
The grain traders of the future will place higher demands on transparency in the value chain. There is a need to increase food safety on cereal-based foods through traceability.
A newly started innovation group consisting of seven partners with expert competence has through the European innovation partnership EIP-Agri been granted support from the Swedish Board of Agriculture to implement the innovation idea of traceability in the grain chain together with Skandia Elevator. This will be done through the development of Grain Cloud, Skandia Elevator’s app for grain storage facilities. The innovation project is led by consultant Matilda von Rosen.
– Today, a lot can go wrong in connection with grain storage. It is a big step in the right direction to give the warehouse keeper more information in order to be able to make better and more economically advantageous decisions, says Matilda von Rosen who previously worked as a grain trader.
– It will control and regulate grain flows with the help of measurement, statistics and machine learning, which provides a more efficient facility and traceability in the grain chain, says Joakim Larsson, CEO of Skandia Elevator.
– The support is invaluable for the further development of Grain Cloud to the vision we had already at the start, now we look forward to working with the innovation group’s partners to create real benefits for grain growers, Joakim Larsson continues.
